To the Editor:
When I decided to run for First Selectman late last summer, my goal was to give the people of Monroe a choice as to their First Selectman. Despite my late entry, some health issues that I battled and, of course, a tough loss, I would not trade my experiences over these last few months for anything except a different outcome.
The voters have spoken, and I fully respect their decision. I want to sincerely thank the many volunteers who worked so hard on my behalf. I’ll always be grateful for the time, energy, and heart they put into this campaign. Their dedication was both inspiring and humbling.
I also want to thank everyone who reached out with encouragement and kind words along the way. And most importantly, thank you to all who took the time to vote. Your participation is what keeps our democracy strong.
While the result wasn’t what we hoped for, I’m proud that together we gave Monroe voters a true choice. That’s something we can all feel good about.
With appreciation,
Leon Ambrosey
