Debra Dragonetti remembered for her commitment to serving her community, faith, loyal friendships

Debra Z. Dragonetti, 66, wife of Joseph Dragonetti for 39 years, died on Friday, January 16, 2026 at home with her family. Born on June 6, 1959 in Louisville, Ky., daughter of the late Avio and June Zuccarini, she was a longtime resident of Monroe, Conn.

She is survived by her husband Joe; children Joseph, Laura, and Julie; daughter-in-law Stephanie; grandchildren Nehemiah and Tyler; sisters Carol, Pamela, and Janice; brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

She graduated from the University of Connecticut and was a retired accountant. She was a devoted member of St. Jude Catholic Church and an active volunteer with Monroe public schools. Her hobbies included hiking, gardening, reading, nature photography, and bird watching.

She will be remembered for her commitment to serving the community, her faith, and her loyal friendships.

Debbie’s family would like to thank the caring staff members at Smilow Cancer Center, Constellation Hospice, Dr. Nasreen Malik, and special nurses Jessica and Jackie who supported Debbie and her family during her illness.

Friends are invited to calling hours on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Spadaccino & Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1 p.m. at St. Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468. Interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Fund at Bridgeport Hospital. Please send checks made out to the Bridgeport Hospital Foundation, 267 Grant St, Bridgeport, CT 06610.

In honor of Debbie please go on a hike or just take some time to enjoy nature.

  1. Debbie was a lovely person, always helpful, kind and never had a bad word. She was a pleasure to work with and I always enjoyed following her hiking adventures. She will be missed.
