MONROE, Conn — Masuk High’s boys swim team defeated Joel Barlow-Bethel 91-76 in its Senior Night meet on Tuesday. Aidan Cammarano, Aiden Rodas, Carter Adragna, Jack McHugh and Thomas Rodriguez were all recognized.
In the first event, the 200 yard medley relay, one of Masuk’s relay teams took first place with a time of 1:47:55 and another earned third place with a time of 2:00:28. The winning team consisted of Will Hardy, Adragna, Mason Eannotti and McHugh. The third place team consisted of Rodriguez, Cammarano, Akkie Yerragudi and Rodas.
In the next event, the 200 yard freestyle, Masuk took first, second and third. McHugh won the event with a time of 2:19:49. William Rodriguez came in second with a time of 2:20:19. Logan Singh was third in 2:53:07. Adragna won the 50 free in 23:21.
One of the most exciting events in the meet was the 500 yard freestyle. Yerragudi was neck and neck with a Barlow High swimmer, pulling out another Masuk win with a time of 5:26:77, which was just 42 milliseconds ahead of his closest competitor.
In the 200 yard freestyle relay, the team of Eannotti, McHugh, Thomas Rodriguez and Adragna was first in 1:39:44.
After this event, Masuk went exhibition. In the 100 yard breaststroke, Masuk earned the top three placements. Adragna was first in 1:07:74, Cammarano came in second with a time of 1:12:11 and Matthew Buzinaro was third in 1:17:34.
The seniors enjoyed the event with teammates helping to make it special. After the meet, some of the Panthers read aloud heartfelt speeches to the seniors in front of family and friends. The seniors took pictures with their families to cap off a fun-filled night.
Masuk improved to 4-1 and is getting ready for Friday’s big road meet against Shelton High/Trumbull High at the Shelton Community Center Pool starting at 3:30 p.m.
