The relay team includes Brayden Callahan, Denson Sidne, Ryan Panella and Brayden Hershberger.

BETHEL, Conn. — Masuk High’s indoor track athletes wrapped up their regular season schedule by setting several personal records during the Bethel Indoor Invitational Track Meet on Saturday. The Panthers competed against 28 other teams from Connecticut and New York.

Among the highlights, the Panthers’ boys 1600 meter sprint medley relay team earned silver medals for finishing in second place with a time of 3:52.24 — the fourth fastest recorded time in Masuk Indoor Track history. The relay team consisted of Brayden Callahan, Denson Sidne, Ryan Panella and Brayden Hershberger.

Overall, Head Coach Donald Casey Jr. and assistant coaches Hannah Keating and Joseph Lato said they are proud of every member of the team.

“The Bethel Invitational had limited entries of students for most events,” Casey said. “Therefore, many students were not able to compete, but still came to practice for training and support last week. This is the type of family atmosphere we are creating with our indoor track team. We are extremely proud of every student. They work very hard during practice and want to improve overall performance in their specific events. The students are a lot of fun too.”

The Panthers will now focus on their biggest meet of the year this Saturday, Feb. 7, when the team travels to the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven for the Southwestern Conference Indoor Track Championships, commencing at 5 p.m.
