With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved son and brother, Paul J. D’Amato, on July 11, 2025. Born on October 9, 1960, Paul grew up on Laskay Drive in Easton, in the house his father built on property that was once the farm of his maternal grandparents, and attended Samuel Staples Elementary, Helen Keller Middle and Joel Barlow High School, a member of the graduating class of 1978.
Paul was also a graduate of Trinity College in Hartford where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Arts in 2002. He was the eternal student, with a love of learning and continued to broaden his knowledge until his final days, through numerous lectures and online classes.
Throughout his life, Paul became an accomplished photographer, was an avid historian, explored family genealogy, passionate birdwatcher, animal lover and naturalist. Paul had many beloved pets through the years – birds, cats, and many dearly loved dogs, including his latest love – Doodles.
Over the years, Paul lived in Boston, Hartford and West Hartford, but ultimately felt the draw to return back to Easton.
Paul now joins his beloved father, Edward P. D’Amato, in heaven, but leaves behind a great many family members that will miss his love and laughter:
His mother, Dorothy Laskay D’Amato of Easton, his sister, Patti and brother-in-law Abel Dias of Monroe, his brother, Dan and sister-in-law Kate of Denver, N.C., and brother Dave and sister-in-law Pam of Forest, Va., as well as many loving nieces and nephews (Joey, Bryan and Megan, and Nichole Dias; Jordan, Brendan and Casey D’Amato; Jenna and Lindsay D’Amato) and four great nieces and nephews (David and Manny Dias, Brayden and Shealyn Dias) in addition to many of his dear cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held this fall. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society at this link.
