TRUMBULL, CT — After 15 years operating Intrinsic Health Source as a solo practice in Monroe, holistic nurse and massage therapist Jeannine Capria knew it was time for a change. Client demand had outgrown what the original location could accommodate—not just in space, but in scope.
“Our clients were looking for something more integrative,” Capria said. “They wanted community. They wanted personalized care. They wanted multidisciplinary collaboration.”
In response, Capria expanded her practice just over the town line to Trumbull, opening Intrinsic Wellness Studio in August 2024. The new name and expanded space reflect a deepened vision—one that brings together a carefully selected team of professionals offering whole-person care. From conventional therapies to holistic services, the studio is built to support healing of the body, mind, and spirit under one roof.
“Monroe will always be home,” said Capria, a longtime resident. “This studio was created as a space where community members feel welcomed, supported, and empowered on their wellness journey.”
From One Room to a Full Studio—and Now, a Classroom

The new studio quickly became more than just a place for private sessions. In April 2025, Intrinsic Wellness Studio responded to client demand by expanding again—this time unveiling a dedicated classroom space for movement and mindfulness-based group programs.
“We heard from clients who wanted supportive classes that weren’t intimidating, and that felt personal,” said Capria. “We listened. These classes are designed to offer just the right mix of individual attention and group energy.”
Classes include Yoga, Pilates, functional fitness, assisted stretching, sound bowl immersion, and guided meditation, with more programs being added based on community interest.
“We didn’t want to be a big yoga or fitness studio,” Capria explained. “Our classes are intentionally small so people feel seen and supported, but still benefit from the collective energy of a group.”
The classroom launched with two months of complimentary community classes and was met with enthusiasm. Now, the studio hopes to build on that momentum by inviting even more residents to explore its offerings.
Encouraging Summer Wellness with a Flexible Pass
Now, as Intrinsic Wellness Studio approaches its one-year anniversary, they are rolling out a “Summer Wellness Pass” to keep the momentum going and invite more people to experience the studio’s unique environment.
For just $100, clients can choose five group classes during July and August—a savings that brings the per-class rate down to $20. For just $20 the cost of a casual lunch or coffe run, you can choose to invest in your health and well-being. Each class is a step toward greater balance, strength, and peace of mind. Your wellness is worth the investment. “This summer special is a great way to explore what we offer and what you would like to see us offer,” said Capria. “Try a stretch class, try yoga or Pilates—see what your body responds to.”

A Team Rooted in Collaboration and Care
The Monroe Sun spoke with three of the studio’s core practitioners, each of whom brings a distinct background—but a shared mission of meeting clients where they are.

Mary Pack, LMT, has been with the studio since its opening and offers massage therapy with expertise in deep tissue work, sports massage, relaxation, restorative techniques, craniosacral therapy, reiki, reflexology, and more. “This is the best job”, said Pack. We’re able to support people on their wellness journey and that’s incredibly rewarding.
“Every session is tailored to meet the client where they are that day,” said Pack. “Sometimes people just need a place to feel safe and cared for. That’s what we strive for.”
She credits Capria, the studio founder, as the heart and soul of the practice. “Jeannine chose each practitioner with care. Her vision was thoughtfully planned to ensure that every aspect of wellness is addressed.”

Wendy Vodola, yoga instructor and stretch specialist, offers a blend of assisted stretching and alignment-based yoga classes. She focuses on realignment and pain-free movement through assisted stretching, breath work and yoga poses.
“You’re not old, you’re out of alignment,” she said with a smile. “I help people move better, breathe better, and reconnect with their bodies.” With a background in Thai yoga massage and extensive training in yoga and stretching techniques, she empowers clients to believe in their body’s ability to heal.
One client, Craig Curley, shared a powerful testimonial:
“What an amazing place, with such diverse wellness offerings. I’ve been a client of Intrinsic since they opened. Trainer-assisted stretching with Wendy has helped me prep for, and rehab from, hip replacement surgery. Now, with their larger yoga studio and expanded yoga classes, my body is moving better than I have in years, and without pain. Thank you, Intrinsic team!”

Michelle Collings, a Holistic Health & Medical Exercise Specialist, blends strength training, Yoga, balance and core techniques with breath work to help clients regain function and reduce pain. Her training in trauma-informed approaches helps clients manage grief, stress and imbalances – physically and emotionally.
“I want you to be able to tie your shoes, play with your grandkids, or get off the toilet without rails,” she said, underscoring her practical and compassionate mindset.
“Our goal is to meet you where you are today. Every class, every session is an opportunity to help you feel stronger and more balanced.”
Still Serving Monroe—From Just Over the Border
Though Intrinsic Wellness Studio has expanded into Trumbull, founder Jeannine Capria’s heart remains firmly rooted in Monroe.
“I moved to Monroe from Brooklyn in 1986, just before starting high school,” Capria shared. “At the time, I felt like an outsider—but over the years, Monroe truly became my hometown. I built a community and friendships at Masuk that still last to this day.”
“I came back in 2010 to start Intrinsic Health Source, and now I’m back living here again. This community shaped me during my younger years—it just felt right to return “home”, both personally and professionally,” she said.
For the last 15 years, Capria built trusted relationships through her Monroe-based practice, many of which continue today at her expanded Trumbull studio. “This new space is a reflection of my vision for compassionate, community-based care,” she added. “While we may now be just over the town line, Monroe is, and always will be, at the heart of everything we do.”
More Than Just a Studio
Intrinsic Wellness Studio is not just a place to take a class or book a massage.
