To the Editor:

I want to take this opportunity to thank the people of Monroe for the past two years. We have been through so much together, from celebrating championships in sports, managing devastating floods, and mourning great town leaders who have been lost. We have collaborated, creating new initiatives and seen positive growth in our town from businesses to our overall culture. We have addressed challenges such as road maintenance, speeding issues, and park improvements. Together we have done this from online concerns to meetings in my office, we have worked together to find the best paths for Monroe moving forward.

We have strengthened safety in cybersecurity to protect our information and we have strengthened our police department to combat as best we can bad legislation that limits our police from protecting our citizens. This administration will fight for the safest and prosperous town possible while mitigating costs that will affect our aging population.

We have cared about all our people, including our seniors with homeowner fraud protection, increased tax relief with more on the horizon, and looked for ways to make large building projects benefit our seniors with more 55+ options.

We have lowered our mill rate nearly 10 points and our property value continues to rise, which proves that doing the revaluation when scheduled was the prudent thing to do or all of us would be taxed at even a higher property value if delayed.

Monroe, we have a lot to be appreciative for, and in the last two years there have been so many positive changes it’s impossible not to notice. There are many new business options to serve our people due to business interest in Monroe increasing significantly making it easier for all of us to stay in town.

We have made Monroe more vibrant with some events growing more successful like the Monroe Police Department’s Monroe Night Out and with new events such as the Jam at the Dam.

So much is on the horizon for our town and the only promise of longevity in leadership is with this administration.

Thank you all for being a partner in our future. All of your insight albeit congratulatory or critical has helped this administration make decisions tailored to the needs and wants of our people.

May God bless America and God bless Monroe.

Thank you for your attention,

Terrence P. Rooney
