Lillian Duva was blessed to have such an amazing family

Start

Lillian (Julian) Duva, 97, of Monroe, Conn., entered into eternal rest on Oct. 23, with her beloved family by her side.

Born, September 26, 1928 to the late Anthony F. and Lillian M. Julian, Lillian was born and raised in Bridgeport and attended Central High School. After marrying the love of her life, James V. Duva, they built their home together where they raised their two daughters. She has spent the last 68 years there with her family creating wonderful memories.

Lillian is survived by her loving daughters Donna Duva Quaranta, Deborah Duva Lewis (Tom), cherished grandsons, C.J. Baumann, Vinny Quaranta and Justin Scianna.

She is also survived by sisters Barbara Hragyil, MaryJane Lovanio (Dr. Richard) and sister-in-law Paula Julian, who she loved like a sister. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews — far too many to mention, and she loved and adored them all.

Lillian is predeceased by her husband James V. Duva. Brothers Anthony (Sonny and Lyda), Donald, Raymond and Dominick (Butch) Julian. Sisters, Elizabeth Nieuwboer, Katherine Lopatosky (Andrew), Mildred Cavaliere (Billy), Jean Picarazzi (Guido).

After retiring early, Nana dedicated herself to what she loved most … spending time with her grandsons. She shared an incredible bond with them, always ready to offer comfort or take the “wheel” as their trusted “getaway car.” Whether she was driving them to a friends house, preparing Nana’s chocolate or lemon cake or teaching them to play cards at the kitchen table, Nana created memories that will be cherished for generations.

She loved spending time at the Monroe Senior Center, where she made many good friends while playing cards and Mahjong. She also enjoyed spending time with her best friend Fran going to church, breakfast at Bill’s Drive-In and on so many other adventures. She looked forward to doing her daily rosary with her friend Donna and a day was never missed.

She was a devoted Catholic and has made great friends at St. Jude Parish where she has been a parishioner for over 60 years.

Lillian cherished her family and always said we were so blessed to have such an amazing family.
