Masuk boys soccer posts 3 wins and tie

MONROE, CT — Masuk’s boys soccer team has had a successful stretch of games, posting a trio of wins and tie in its last five contests.

The Panthers followed up a 1-0 win over New Fairfield on Sept. 16 with a 4-1 victory over Notre Dame Prep of Fairfield two days later.

After falling 2-0 to Bunnell on Sept. 20 the Panthers blanked Harding 1-0 on Sept. 24 then played Immaculate to a scoreless tie the next day. All but the Notre Dame game were played at Masuk.

In the win over New Fairfield, Jackson Thom scored. Against Notre Dame, Thom was assisted by Jack Zurich, Jeremy Iniguez Mendoza was assisted by Jackson Zylick and two freshmen got into the goal column as Antek Turosienski found the net unassisted and Cicco DeSanti was set up by Ben Barrett. Ryan Panella scored in the game against Harding.

Masuk has held three opponents scoreless behind the efforts of the back line, including Nicholas Rodrigues, Matt Rivera, J.P. Lavaredas, and Zurich with goalkeeper Braden Kuhns stopping shots on goal.

The Panthers (4-5-1) will host Stratford on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
