Masuk swimmers and divers edge Rebels by single point

Skye Eanotti and the Panthers are off to a 2-0 start to the season.

NEW FAIRFIELD, CT — Masuk’s girls swim and dive team won by the slimmest of margins, topping the host New Fairfield Rebels 93-92 on Tuesday.

First-place Masuk finishers in the meet:

200 Medley Relay – Lena Savkovic, Laney Stillway, Izzy Murzinska and Skye Eannotti

200 Free – Ishani Tyagi

Diving – Eliza Palmieri

100 Free – Lena Savkovic

500 Free – Izzy Murzinska

100 Back – Lena Savkovic

100 Breast – Grace Sheppard

400 Free Relay – Skye Eannotti, Izzy Murzinska, Laney Stillway, and Lena Savkovic

The Panthers had many second and third place races and several others in the top five

“Every race, event and point counted on Tuesday. It came down to the very end, the last relay. We were up by five at the 500, down by one at the 200 free relay, down by one at the 100 back, down by one at the 100 breast and pulled ahead by one after the last relay. Crazy meet — crazy close,” Masuk Coach Emily DeMace said.

The Panthers improved to 2-0 and will host St. Joseph of Trumbull Tuesday at 4 p.m.

“We are off to a great start to the season. The coaching staff is very happy with their results thus far. We have so many that have already qualified for SWCs and States in both swimming and diving. And we’re hoping for even more to come,” DeMace said.
