Masuk swimmers have strong performances, lose close meet to Weston

Will Hardy, in action last winter, won the backstroke race in Masuk's season-opening meet at Weston on Friday.

The Masuk Panthers started off the season with an exciting first meet, ultimately falling 96-80 at Weston on Friday. Masuk had some strong performances in the competition.

In the 200 Medley Relay, Masuk took first place with a time of 1:44:60. Masuk’s relay swimmers are junior Will Hardy, senior Carter Adragna, junior Mason Eannotti, and senior Jack McHugh.

In the 100 Butterfy Mason Eannotti earned first place with a time of 58:31. Akkie Yerragudi (junior) took second with a time of 1:01:07. After this event, Masuk took the lead in points over the Weston Trojans. In the next event, the 100 Free, Carter Adragna placed first with a time of 49:80.

Masuk had another strong outcome in the 200 Freestyle Relay, the same relay team as the medley listed above, placing first with a time of 1:34:38. Placing third was another Masuk relay team, consisting of underclassmen Matt Buzinaro, Logan Singh, Jacob Zajac, and Will Rodriguez. They had a time of 1:50:05.

In the 100 Backstroke, Will Hardy placed first with a time of 57:96 and Jack McHugh placed second with a time of 1:01:89.

Masuk’s next meet is Tuesday, January 6 away against Bunnell/Stratford at 4:15.
