MONROE, CT — The red-hot Masuk girls volleyball team carries an 11-1 South-West Conference record into Saturday’s regular-season finale at Immaculate of Danbury at 1 p.m.
The Panthers are battling Weston for the No. 2 spot and trail only unbeaten Joel Barlow of Redding in the standings. The Panthers appear to be in good shape to earn the second seed, as they own the tiebreaker having beaten Weston 3-0, not to mention Weston faces Barlow on Saturday.
Regardless, the Panthers will host an SWC quarterfinal match Tuesday, Oct, 21 (scheduled for 6 p.m., time subject to change).

Masuk battled to a tough 3-2 victory at Newtown on Thursday. Set scores were 25-15, 18-25, 20-25, 25-11, 18-16.
In the decisive fifth set the Panthers trailed 13-11, 14-13 and 15-14, but kept battling back. Consecutive kills by Jacqueline Silkman and Grace Kehoe sealed the hard-fought victory.
Key plays in the final set, including blocks and kills, were turned in by Abigail Urkawich, Addison Scott and Lily Yerrington.

Masuk was coming off a 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 27-25) win over host New Milford on Tuesday. Another match in which the last set went extra points and the Panthers found a way.
Against New Milford, Scott had 11 kills and Urkawich and Yerrington both had eight kills. Yerrington had five blocks and Tyler compiled 31 assists. Scott, Tyler and Urkawich had 12, 11 and 10 digs, respectively. Grace Morrow had eight digs and Mary-Kate Doyle collected seven digs.
