Monroe's warming and charging center is housed in the classroom of the police station at 7 Fan Hill Road.

MONROE, Conn. — First Selectman Terry Rooney made a post on the town’s Facebook page updating residents on the extreme winter weather Saturday.

“As the extreme cold persists, this office and emergency management have been monitoring town conditions,” Rooney wrote. “Recent information received from the Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security predicts by 0700 Sunday morning, wind chill values are expected to range from -20 to -30 degrees Fahrenheit. In addition, breezy conditions with gusty winds are expected through much of Sunday.”

“The Monroe Police department lobby is available for both charging and a warming center 24 hrs a day,” he continued. “Emergency management will continue to monitor conditions and make decisions based on changing needs may they arise. Stay warm and please call 911 for any emergencies.”
