NORTHFORD, Conn. — Masuk’s hockey team made it a perfect 10-0 this winter in a wild 8-6 win over the North Branford co-op team at Northford Ice Pavilion on Wednesday.
Both teams scored four times in the opening period and the Panthers seized a 7-5 lead going to the third.
Luke Kondub netted another hat-trick, scoring all of Masuk’s goals in the difference-making middle stanza. Kondub added five assists, once again playing a factor in all of Masuk’s scoring. His whopping eight points proved to be enough to help the Panthers overcome a rare high-scoring opponent.
After Teddy Walsh and Michael Leventakos gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead in the opening minute of action the North Branford co-op scored the next three. Chase DeSano tied the score at three apiece. After Masuk fell behind 4-3, Leventakos lit the lamp again just 13 seconds later to cap the first-period scoring barrage.
Kondub made it 5-4 Masuk and answered a tying goal with two more of his own. In the third, Noah Comacho extended the Panther lead and Masuk held on.
Parker Driscoll and Graham Cybart added assists for the Panthers. Masuk was outshot 32-26.
The Panthers look to keep it going when Tri Town visits the Sports Center of Connecticut Saturday, Jan. 31, for a 7:15 p.m. puck drop.
