MONROE, Conn. — Police officers responding to a 911 call, in which the caller hung up, tracked the location to the area of East Village and Barn Hill roads, where they found a black 2020 Porsche Cayenne hanging halfway over a guardrail and resting on a tree early Wednesday morning.
The airbags were deployed and a large amount of blood was inside the vehicle, but there was no driver, according to police. Officers searched the area with the help of a State Police K9, to no avail.
The Porsche Cayenne was registered to a Sand Bar Road resident. Officers spoke to a family member and determined the identity of the driver, a 60-year-old Monroe man.
Hours after the accident, which occurred around 1:30 a.m., police saw him walking up his driveway, according to the report. Asked why he left the scene, he said he doesn’t remember driving or crashing the mid-size SUV, police said.
Monroe Volunteer Emergency Medical Service personnel took him to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
He was issued a misdemeanor summons for evading responsibility, failure to maintain the proper lane and traveling unreasonably fast for conditions. His vehicle had sustained significant damage and was towed.
