MONROE, CT — Rick Jordan, who owns Jordan Construction LLC, recalls how customers often make mistakes when ordering new cabinets themselves, from inaccurate measurements creating delays to regretting what they chose.
Jordan partnered with his longtime friend Kyle Searles, who owns Searles Home Improvement, to open Premier Cabinet Creations in Gaslight Square at 500 Monroe Turnpike.
The two men, who both grew up in Shelton, had often worked together on home improvement projects.
“He came to me with the idea of a cabinet showroom, so we can make the measurements for our customers and get it right the first time without having to reorder and wait,” Jordan said. “It’s an easy streamlined process.”
Jordan and Searles approached quality cabinet lines for their showroom. Among the brands on display are Fabuwood Cabinetry, 1951 Cabinetry, GFO Quartz and Vicostone.
“We install, we do the demo,” Jordan said. “We’ll give customers a 3-D rendering of their kitchen, so they can see what it’s going to look like.”

The friends are working with Grisel Lombard, the manager of design, who also owns her own business called, The Ideal Consultant. Searles’ sister, Tory Searles, is manager of operations.
Premier Cabinet Creations’ showroom is open Tuesday though Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
“I love it,” Kyle Searles said of Premier Cabinet Creations’ location on Monroe Turnpike. “It’s great. We’re happy with the location we chose. We’re looking to have quality, speed and affordability.”
Balloons were hung and the store had a spread of food out Friday afternoon, when the Monroe Chamber of Commerce held a grand opening celebration for the new business.

First Selectman Terry Rooney attended the ceremony, along with State Rep. Tony Scott, R-Monroe, Monroe Economic and Community Development Director William Holsworth and Chamber President Ray Giovanni, who is also chairman of the Monroe Economic Development Commission (EDC).
Monroe Chamber and EDC members, and Searles’ and Jordan’s staff, family and friends joined in the celebration, which was organized by Monroe Chamber Ambassador Lee Hossler.
“On behalf of the town of Monroe, I’d like to thank Ricky and Kyle for bringing Premier Cabinet Creations to Monroe,” Rooney said, adding he has seen a lot of people coming into Town Hall for permits to do kitchen remodels. “We’re really happy to have you guys. Congratulations. Thank you for investing in Monroe.”
“We’re so happy that we have your great business here in town with us,” Giovanni said, adding the Monroe Chamber will also promote Searles’ and Jordan’s other businesses.
“They’re great,” Searles said of the town officials who participated in the grand opening. “They’ve been very helpful the whole time.”
