MONROE, Conn. — First Selectman Terry Rooney posted a storm update Sunday evening warning of low visibility and dangerous driving conditions..

“If travel is necessary, proceed with extreme caution,” he wrote in a Facebook post. “Town crews have been out since this morning and will continue throughout the evening into tomorrow.”

He said power outages reported in the Stepney area have since been resolved, according to Eversource, adding crews are in place for any further incidents.

“Stay warm, bundle up and please engage in outside activities with caution,” Rooney said. “The temperature in Monroe is currently 11 degrees.”

The first selectman reminds residents that Town Hall offices will be closed tomorrow with regular hours resuming Tuesday morning.

The Monroe Police Department lobby will be open for anyone in need of a warming area.
