Tony Scott announces campaign for reelection to the Connecticut State House

State Rep. Tony Scott

MONROE, Conn. — Connecticut State Rep. Tony Scott, who announced he is running for reelection, pledges to continue fighting for working families and local communities, while addressing some of the most urgent challenges facing the state.

Scott said his campaign will focus on three major issues still affecting Connecticut residents every day: affordability, attacks on local control and unfunded mandates passed down to local municipalities.

“Too many families are being priced out of the state they love,” he said. “From groceries and energy bills to housing and taxes, affordability is the number one issue I hear about from my constituents. Connecticut’s one-party rule has made things worse, not better, and it’s time for real balance and accountability in Hartford.”

Scott emphasized that rising costs are forcing families, seniors and young people to make difficult choices, while state policies continue to strain local budgets.

He also criticized ongoing efforts that weaken local control, particularly through housing policies that take some decision making away from locally elected officials and put them in the hands of “out of touch bureaucrats” in Hartford.

Another major issue that hurts affordability in Connecticut, according to Scott, are the many unfunded mandates that shift costs and responsibilities to cities and towns without providing the necessary resources.

“Local municipalities are being asked to do more with less,” he said. “Unfunded mandates drive up property taxes and undermine the ability of towns to serve their residents effectively. Decisions that affect our communities should be made locally, with proper funding and respect for taxpayers.”

“I’m running for reelection because Connecticut can and must do better,” Scott added. “We need policies that make life more affordable, respect our towns, and stop pushing state costs onto local property taxpayers. I’m ready to keep fighting for the people I represent.”

  1. State Rep Tony Scott has proven to champion the issues affecting Monroe, Easton and Trumbull. I wholeheartedly support Re Scott’s reelection bid for the 112th district, and you to do the same. Thank you
